Medical Needs, Difference & Disability

Supporting children whose worlds include hospitals, diagnoses, and difference

Children navigating chronic illness, disability, medical procedures, or being "different" from their peers carry a particular kind of weight — and they're too often handed mental health support that wasn't built with them in mind.

We create therapy and resources that meet these children where they actually are: in waiting rooms, before procedures, living with uncertainty, and finding their own kind of brave.

TCPH FLOURISH POST LETTER (1) (1).png

A pen pal initiative
with a difference.

Flourish Post creates something rare: a safe, supported friendship where children feel genuinely seen.

As the letters flow, something quietly remarkable happens. Friendships flourish. Conversations about mental wellbeing open up naturally. Resilience builds. A growth mindset takes root — not because it was taught, but because it was felt.

Every month Bertie the Postman delivers something special:

  • A letter from their carefully matched Flourish Friend

  • A mindfulness or wellbeing activity

  • A mood tracker and letter prompts

  • A guided visualisation from Bertie

  •

All matches are carefully considered. Children are kept safe throughout. And every element is designed by a psychotherapist with children's emotional wellbeing at its heart.

Mindfulness Tools

Noticing Nature

For school holidays, family walks, forest school sessions, beach school days, and any moment a child is already outside and needs help noticing they are. Especially good for children who find traditional sit-still mindfulness hard.

How to use them:

Two hand-illustrated, wipe-clean A4 mats — one for woodland and green spaces, one for the beach. Five activities each: grounding, breathing, gratitude, slow noticing, and a scavenger hunt. Take them outside, let your child lead, and use them again and again.

What they helps with:

→ Regulating the nervous system through the senses → Connecting children to nature in a structured, gentle way → Giving forest schools, beach schools, and families a ready-made mindfulness toolkit
