My Iceberg
The My Iceberg is a printable A4 resource designed to help children explore their hidden feelings, struggles, and strengths using the iceberg metaphor. Just like an iceberg, where most of its mass lies unseen under the water, many of our thoughts and emotions are hidden beneath the surface. This activity supports children in recognising what they show on the outside versus what they feel on the inside.
Through playful illustrations and guided prompts, children learn to explore both challenges and hidden strengths, building self-awareness and emotional resilience.
Why It Works
The Iceberg Metaphor: – Children see how behaviour (the tip of the iceberg) is just part of the story, with many hidden feelings and thoughts beneath.
Safe Exploration: – Encourages children to identify “hidden struggles” and “hidden strengths” in a non-judgmental, creative way.
Balanced Perspective: – Helps children recognise not only difficulties but also their inner strengths and coping resources.
This structured, engaging approach teaches children that what’s hidden inside matters, and by understanding it, they can better manage feelings and build resilience.
