The 'Catch the Thought' worksheet uses a fun fishing analogy to teach children about detaching from and restructuring their negative thinking. This powerful CBT tool likens unhelpful thoughts to "fish swimming in the sea." The child acts as the "captain," "catching" a thought in their net. They then Examine it, Clean it (by finding a balanced, helpful thought), and finally Release it back into the water. This four-step process helps children stop dwelling on negative self-talk, promoting cognitive flexibility and a sense of control over their inner dialogue.
